Route Notes BC at Khumbu Glacier C1 above the Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse West Face C4 at South Col. Arredondo, Benegas, Pierson, Pasang Tendi and Danuru left C4 at 8 pm. Danuru turned around from below South Summit (according to Lhakpa Nurbu, Danuru had a little chest pain). Arredondo, Benegas, Pierson and Pasang Tendi reached summit at 6:10 am on 21 May, stayed on summit an hour and half, descended to South Col at 11:30 am and slept there. Next day to C2 to sleep. Following day to BC. Bonner went up to C2 on 1 May slept there. He did not want to go further. Just wanted to go home and left BC on 3 May. Benegas help Saudi climber Alzuman of Rippel Canadian team who was snowblind from South Col to C2. The Swiss climber (Goltz Kobler expedition) who summited without oxygen collapsed just about 200m away from his tent. Benegas brought him with other Sherpas to South Col. Sherpas made a grave for the Swiss climber with piles of rocks away from South Col and buried him. Lhakpa Nurbu went up to South Col to set camp. Bonner was supposed to go with him to summit. Since Bonner gave up his climbing Lhakpa remained at BC. Bonner was on Everest in 2005. At that time also Lhakpa was his Sherpa. Bonner told Lhakpa that he will come again for Everest. The team returned Kathmandu on 27 May and will leave on 31 May. Fixed rope: 600m from below south summit to summit.
