Route Notes C1 at top of Icefall C2 in West Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col High point just above C4. TITV Everest from Thailand - 15 Nov 2007 Expedition consisted of nine climbing members and seven television personnel (editors, reporters, producer, etc), plus one doctor and one nurse at BC. They were aided by nine climbing Sherpas and three Sherpa "instructors." Three other Sherpas from the SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee) were the so called Icefall doctors assigned to keep the Khumbu Icefall route open. Before attempting Everest, the team went to Island Peak. On 19 October nine members reached its summit: Chancharoen, Jitnom, Kimjun, Jongyindee, Pinengam, Rungroung, Sorn-Ek, Sinthuvong and Tamaipuan; Koonphol, Mangkang, Petratanamuree, Poosee and Yimdee got almost to the summit, but had to turn back because of headaches caused by high altitude. Then to Everest, where their BC had been established on 22 September and C1 on 11 October. Besides the climbing members, BC was occupied by the television personnel. In the push for the summit, Kimjun and Pinengam plus nine Sherpas reached C4 at the South Col on 6 November. They planned to make their summit attempt the next day. But when they got to the Col, their sirdar Pasang told them that since the wind at that time was not very strong, this was the time to make a bid for the summit. So one member Pinengam set out for the top at 6:00 pm with Lama Babu Sherpa. They managed to climb only about 100m above the col when 100 km/hr wind slammed them against a large stone. They were not hurt, but they immediately abandoned their summit attempt and returned to C4. At 9:00 the next day, the party in C4 descended to C2 and the climb was over. Sirdar Pasang said the winds had now become too strong to make any further summit attempts. They could see the snow plume blowing off the summit, and the noise of the wind sounded like a jet airplane. Oxygen: All members and Sherpas used in C3, to their high points and down to C2. Also used by Petratanamuree at BC when he got a blood clot on the brain on 16 October and had to leave BC by helicopter. Member's high points on Everest: Chancharoen reached C2, but had a lung problem, had difficulty breathing even at BC; he left the expedition on 4 Nov. Chulapha did not go above BC. Jitnnom did not go above BC and left expedition on 26 September to resume work in Thailand. Kimjun reached C4. Jongyindee got to C2 but was not strong enough to go higher. Koonphol did not go above BC and left on 26 September for work in Bangkok. Mangkang stayed in BC. Petratanamuree did not go above BC and left on 15 Oct because of a blood clot (see above under oxygen use). Pinengam got perhaps 100m above C4 in summit push (see above). Poosee stayed in BC. Rungroung went to C2. Sinthuvong reached C2 but not strong enough to go higher. Sorn-Ek reached C2, then became sick. Tamjaipuan reached the Geneva Spur on 6th November on his way to C4 with summit party. Wisessombat stayed in BC. Yimdee climbed on the Lhotse Face towards C3 but turned back at 7000m because he was not well. Sherpas: Lama Babu Sherpa, 23/9/68, Cheremy, Bung, Solu, Everest X3 Pasang Sherpa, 11/8/75, Jiri-7, Everest 30/5/05
