Route Notes British Military Everest Expedition led by Simon Hall The summit party of all eight climbing members and four Sherpas left C4 at 9:30 pm on the 21st of May for the top. The summit people were Clark, Hall, Jackson, Joshi, Lancashire, MacDonald, Porter, Wilkinson, Pasang Ila, Nurbu Bhote Lama, Chayang Jangbu Bhote and Kalzang Dorje. They reached the top on 22 May between 6:00 am (Porter and Wilkinson) and 8:30 am (Joshi). They returned to C4 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Next day they descended to C2. On the 24th they were involved in escorting the Nepalese woman with the Democratic Everest team, Usha Bista (who wore a Maoist badge), down to BC. Oxygen: Members used it from C3 to C4 to top to C3. Climbing Sherpas from C4 to top to C4; kitchen boy from C4 to Balcony to C4. Sherpas: The total number of Sherpas with this team unknown to Hall. He, Kenton Cool and Victor Saunders shared Sherpas with Henry Todd, who hired them, and the Sherpas were switched around amongst them, so men who had been climbing with Hall's team were transferred and suddenly another, new man turned up. This was "just a bit irritating," Hall said. They had a total of four (plus the climbing kitchen boy) at any given time. Sherpa summiters: Pasang Ila/Yila, 17/12/77 (2/9/2034), Pangboche, Everest X3 Nurbu Bhote Lama, 29/5/81 (12/7/2038), Hatiya-3, Makalu Chayang Jangbu/Jyabu Bhote, 28/9/1979 (12/7/2036), Hatiya-1, Makalu, 1st 8000er Kalzang Dorje, 23/7/81 (8/4/2038), Pangboche, 1st 8000er
