Route Notes C1 at spot safer from avalanching C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col. Main summit party left C4 at 9:00 pm on 15 May; at 8:00 pm Benegas, Nima Wandeki, Changba Nuru and Pasang Tendi left early to fix ropes from Balcony to top. On top at 7:45 am 16 May and all down to C4 to sleep. The summiters on 16 May were Benegas, Dalzell, Evensen, Tryti, Lhakpa Nuru, Changba Nuru, Nima Wandeki, Tshering Wangchu, Pasang Tendi, Ang Pemba and Maila Tamang. Benegas, Smith and Pasang Tendi left C4 at 9:00 pm and on top 2:50 am 24 May and South Col 5:45 am and on to C2 at 11:30 am. On the 24th they were Benegas and Pasang Tendi again with Smith, who had developed a bad case of pulmonary edema in C2 on 7 May, gone down to Namche Bazar to recover, and returned to BC about the 14th. Non-summiting members: Henley went into the Icefall to 5500m with Salmeh and left expedition with him on 1 May. Salmeh went to 5500m in the Icefall, ran out of steam, and left expedition on 1 May. Oxygen: Members in the first summit party used it in C3 to top to and in C4; Sherpas in C4 to top to C4. In the second summit push both members and their Sherpas used it in C2 to the summit to C4; Smith started at a low altitude because of his recent case of edema, and Benegas and Pasang Tendi because they had used a lot of their strength while summiting with the first group.
