Route Notes He does not know about altitude of camps. He used C2 tent that belongs to Xtreme Everest expedition at C3 and C4. He carried his own tent. He took an ILO Flag to summit. First Nepali Labour Everest Expedition 2007 Nima Dorchi left C4 at 9 pm on 22 May for summit. His left mitten was blown away by wind while trying to change oxygen cylinder at Balcony. After a while, his left hand started getting cold. He started rubbing his hand with glove on the fixed rope holding it strongly and that helped him to keep his hand warm preventing frostbite. Nima Dorchi reached summit at 8:45 am on 23 May. He was the last one to reach summit on that day. Nima Dorchi asked Pasang Sherpa of Xtreme Everest Expedition to take his summit pictures. He displayed flag of Small Hotel and Restaurant Worker's Organization of Nepal (SHRWON) and ILO flag on the summit. Nima Dorchi stayed on summit less than 10 minutes and descended. At about 11:30 am he reached Balcony (about 8400m). He was exhausted and sat down there and slept. Dr. Mike Grocott, leader of Xtreme Everest Expedition, said that one of his Sherpas spotted Nima Dorchi sitting in snow, motionless and could not speak. He was badly sick and needed immediately medical help. Grocott's Sherpa carried rucksack of Nima Dorchi and Grocott himself with help of rope started dragging him to South Col. It was very difficult. Nima Dorchi said that his throat was completely dry and could not speak and also difficulty in breathing. Once Grocott people started giving him warm drinks Nima Dorchi started feeling good and slept in South Col. Next day Nima Dorchi went down to C2 by himself, stayed there one night. Then went to BC and and went to Gorak Shep to call Kathmandu. He had talk with Bishnu Bahadur Thapa, Senior Vice President of Small Hotel and Restaurant Worker's Organization of Nepal (SHRWON), about his climb and came to know that Ministry has not issued his climbing permit until that day. Nima Dorchi left BC on 26 May and stayed in Namche waiting for the Ministry to issue the permit. SHRWON applied to the Ministry requesting for permission for Nima Dorchi (he is executive central member of SHRWON) to climb Everest representing Laborers of Nepal and also of whole world. The Organization also requested Ministry to waive the royalty for the permission and application was submitted through Green Lotus Trekking along with necessary documents on 17 April 2007. Since the process in the Ministry was taking time and climbing time was approaching Nima Dorchi left Kathmandu on 12 June after he was informed that his climbing permit has been issued. The SHRWON members including Nima Dorchi met ILO Country Director Mr. Li in his office in Lalitpur to have ILO flag to take with Nima Dorchi to summit of Everest and also to request for financial support for the expedition. Mr. Li told them that he would try to get financial support from Geneva but not for the estimated sum of US$20000.
