Route Notes C1 above the Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse West Face C4 at South Col. Nepal TV Lions Club Expedition 2007 Kami, Lhakpa Gelje, Sonam and Da Chamba ("Chhemba") Sherpa left C4 at 11 pm on 15 May for the summit. Lhakpa Gelje and Sonam reached summit at 9:15 am on 16 May; Kami and Da Chamba reached summit at 9:45 am. The team spent about 3 hours on the summit, then descended to South Col at 3 pm and slept there. Next day to C2 and the following day to BC. Note: Kami Sherpa was also assisting/working for Johan Nilson of the Asian Trekking group. Leader Wangchu Sherpa stayed at BC throughout the expedition period and left BC on 19 May. The team while on the summit displayed flags and banners of 13 different sponsors of the expedition. Weather was very good. The team returned to Kathmandu on 24 May. Records: Kami Sherpa became the first television journalist from South Asia to summit the Everest. Kami had interview Super Sherpas member Lhakpa Gelu on the summit. This is also first time a journalist interviewed on the top of the world. The team members commonly released book titled "Seti Pani Kali Pani" authored by Pratik Dhakal (pen name of Khadananda Dhakal, Under Secretary, Mountaineering Div, MOCTA). Apa Sherpa released earlier (same day) another book written by the same author on the summit. This is also the first time that all the climbers of the team used sleeping bags, down jackets, down suits, down mittens, under garments: about seven items produced by Everest Hard Wear owned by Sonam Sherpa, climbing member. Sonam said that the test of the products were very good and beyond his expectation. Da Chhemba, (19-10-2024) 2/2/68, Gudel-5, Solukhumbu Summited Baruntse in 2000 with British, Cho Oyu in 2005 with Japanese, Everest in 2003 with British and in 2004 with Japanese.
