Route Notes First acclimatized on Lhakpa Ri (except Chiew). DCXP Everest Expedition led by Duncan Chessell - Spring 2007 First summit party who left C3 for the top at 2:30 am (NST) on 23 May consisted of Bingham, Chessell, Nagel, North, Remza, Sarah, Namgya, Lhakpa Sherpa, Kusang Tenzing, and Densa Bhote. Sarah, who was very slow and "ran out of steam and time," turned back at 8450m at about 4:30 am and Kusang Tenzing with her and they went down to C1. North turned back at 8500m at 5:00 am and Densa with him; North kept thinking about his one-year-old daughter instead of the mountain, and the descended to ABC. The rest of the party went to the summit between 8:00 and 10:00 am, and all went down to ABC that day. The next summit bid was made on 5 June and all in this party got to the top. They were Chiew, Jackson, Sheen, Namgya (again from ABC), Densa Bhote, Pasang Tharke, and Kami Rita. Along with them went an independent Indian, Shekhar Babu, who "literally crawled" up to C1, but then when he started using oxygen from C1, he went very well. The summit party left C3 at midnight and 15 minutes later, and were on the top at 4:50 am (Sheen) to 5:30 am. All down to ABC from 11:00 am (Sheen) to 6:00 pm (Chiew, who was very tired and took his time in his descent). Sherpas: Namgya/Namgyal Sherpa, 11/8/71, Lelep, Ghunsa, Everest X4, Cho Oyu X1 Lhakpa Sherpa, 11/10/78, Zarok, Everest X3 Densa Bhote, 4/11/81, Hungung, Makalu, Cho Oyu 25/05/06 Pasang Tharke Sherpa, 23/7/71, Thami, Everest X3 Kami Rita Sherpa, 22/10/77, Thami, Everest X6 (according to him) Kusang Tenzing Sherpa, 16/5/84, Lelep, no 8000ers Ngata Sherpa, 2/2/76 (9/10/2038), Lelep-9, Taplejung Ngata Sherpa was semi-attached to Chessell's expedition and Ronnie Muhl's expedition from same trekking agency (Arun Treks) and he tagged along with Muhl's summit party on 23 May, using oxygen [and summited at 6:00 am well ahead of Chessell's party at 8:00 am]. Oxygen: Members in the first summit party used it in C2 to high points to C1; in second summit party, Chiew and Jackson from C1 to top to C1, and Sheen in C3 to top to C1. Sherpas in both summit parties in C3 to high points to C2 or C1.
Accidents Chiew and Jackson got pneumonia and left BC on 14 May to go down to Zangmu's lower altitude to recover (they returned to BC on 18 May and later summited)
