Route Notes Everest Unarmed, Spring 2007 - 24 May 2007 Summit party of Hauge, Nilsson, Osland, Pedersen, Zulauf, and five Sherpas left C3 at 10:00 pm (NST) on 15 May for an attempt to reach the top. Dawa Tshering (sirdar) was in the lead. Dawa Chhiri stayed close to Pedersen, who has no left arm and a prothesis on right arm from below the elbow, and helped Pedersen with tying and untying rope and so on. As they approached the Second Step, the sirdar was worried about the weather's getting worse, which would mean that they would be trapped and unable to descend quickly because of the crowd of people on the one-way Second Step ladder. All party members reached the Step at 8600m except Jaya Prakash Rai, who had gotten confused and followed the wrong team, reached 8400m and was met by the others as they were coming down from the expedition's high point of 8600m. Team descended to C3 and on down all the way to ABC the same day and climb was finished. Pedersen would not be able to make a summit bid: it would have been too exhausting for him to try again. "I am satisfied with this attempt," he said. They got to ABC on the 16th and BC on the 17th, but then had to wait until the 22nd to leave BC because of a shortage of yaks. Oxygen: the five summit party members used it in their summit push; Pedersen in C1 to 8600m to C1, the others in and from C2 to 8600m to C1. The two Dawas used none, while the other three Sherpas used it from C3 to 8600m to C3. The only person with any medical problem was Dawa Chhiri (Phurte), who got frostbite on three fingers. Non-summit party members: Hageboe, BC manager, did not go above BC; was not very well and left expedition on 25 April. Oestmoen, photographer, went to C1 only. Sherpas: Sirdar Dawa Tshering/Chhiri Sherpa, 3/8/71, Beding, Cho Oyu X6, Everest X4, etc Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, 19/2/78, Phurte, Namche-4, Cho Oyu X1, Everest X2, etc Pasang Sona Sherpa, 21/7/77, Thami, Namche-7 Mingma Nuru Sherpa, 20/12/75, Thami, Namche-7 Kami Singee Tamang, 16/7/77, Syamba, Ramache, Rasuwa-4 Jaya Prakash Rai, 28/3/74, Makalu-6, Sankhuwasabha
