| Route Notes | BC at CBC/IC on 10th at 5800m. Jijon started from C3 at 02:00 hours (NST) on May 17, reached summit at 12:00 hours, stayed on summit one hour. Descended to C2 at 19:00 hours, stayed there without sleeping bag; it was very cold. Next day to ABC. While on summit came up 2-3 Sherpas and 5 organized French. They were the last one to summit on that day. Jijon while descending had talked with Negrete at C2 with two Sherpas for about 25 minutes. Jijon tried to contact Negrete on May 19 at about 09:00 hours. Ang Dawa told him that Negrete died at 02:00 hours. Jijon made his ascent alpine-style and solo. He used about 10 percent of fix ropes. Jijon returned to Kathmandu on May 25 and trying to leave as soon as possible. He also said that the weather was good between May 10 to 25. |
