Route Notes Team left C3 at 11 pm on 16 May. They encountered a traffic jam at 2nd Step. They had to wait for about one hour. After summiting they descended to C3, where they arrived at 5 pm NST. When they arrived they noticed that Ang Temba who was at the end of the line, was missing. They expected him to arrive shortly. Due to exhaustion they all fell asleep very quickly. Pasang Tendu woke up at 4 am and noticed that Ang Temba still had not arrived. He and Chhedar started to look for him when it got light. They found him just above C3. Ang Temba was being helped down by Jangbu Sherpa from Dan Mazur's expedition. He had spent the night at 8600m near the cave where the dead Indian (from 1996 spring) otherwise known as "Green Boots" is lying. On descent he was very exhausted and sat down. He fell asleep and when he woke up it was dark and his oxygen had run out. He had no battery power for his head torch left, so he decided to stay up there. When it got light he started descending but was very weak. Crampton (Mazur's expedition) and Jangbu found him below 1st Step all tangled up in ropes. When Ang Temba arrived at C3 he collapsed but his team managed to get him down to the North Col - short roped. The next day (19 May) they descended to ABC and from there he was carried down to BC by 4 Tibetans as he was by that point unable to walk. On drive back to Kathmandu he was most of the time unconscious. When they got to Kathmandu, Ang Temba and Kamikomaki (who had suffered frostbite on both hands and feet) were taken to hospital. Ang Temba had lost his memory for 5 days but recovered and is fine now.
