| Route Notes | C1 at 7000m North Col. Yeo thought he had signs of pulmonary edema so he went down from C2 while Bagnulo went to summit with Gheorghe Dijmarescu's team member David Watson. Bill developed a bad cough and turned at high camp on May 10th, not spending the night there. Dave Watson and I left for the summit at 11:00 pm on May 10th. I had two oxygen bottles with me that I had bought from Dan Mazur in Kathmandu. Dave and I reached the summit at approximately 7:30 am. We made it back to advanced basecamp by evening on May 11th. Email from John Bagnulo - 22 Jan 2007 We arrived in ABC a few days ahead of Dan Mazur's group [whose permit he and Bill Yeo were on]. I was not the leader, Bill and I were simply partners on this climb. I am quite sure I first spent the night at Camp 1 on the 15th of April. Bill had a bad coughing attack and did not spend the night as he turned around on the glacier. Later, we spent the night there together and hiked up towards Camp 2 the next day, maybe 2/3rds of the way or so. This would have been around the 22nd of April. We only spent the night at Camp 2 on our summit push. Yes, we did start to use oxygen at Camp 2 on the summit push at the lowest flow rate. Stopped using oxygen at around Camp 2 on the descent. Arrived at ABC around 7:30 pm on summit day. We left base camp on the 13th of May; left Kathmandu on the 14th or 15th. |
