Route Notes Maskey and Dawa Sherpa (brother of Babu Chhiri) left BC on May 27 and reached C2. May 28 reached C3. May 29 both left C3 at 7:30 am arrived C4 at 3 pm. Left C4 between 11-11:30 pm, reached 8800m base of Hillary steps between 9:30-9:45 am of May 30th. At that point Dawa told her that the oxygen will not be enough to continue for summit and asked her to turn around. They had two full cylinders in stock carried by Dawa and two others. They were using one cylinder each. Maskey said they spent half an hour arguing there. She requested Dawa to continue. She started weeping. Dawa instead of encouraging her, told her that this was the point from where other non-Sherpa climbers like Timilsina and Ram Krishna turned around. Dawa also said that for a successful summit need more Sherpas. He said that from that point to summit it will take 5-6 hours. Maskey could not comprehend the reason of Dawa's negative attitude against her. She was helpless, though she was mentally and physically ready to continue her climbing. By that time wind started and snowfall. Benegas who was descending told Maskey that it will be good to turn back. Then Maskey descended to C4 and slept there. Next day to C2. And following day to BC. The expedition left BC on June 2 and arrived KTM on 5th. Member Sonam Dangol climbed up to C2 on May 14. He and Maskey spent three nights in C2. Leader remained at BC.
