Route Notes C1 at top of Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at South Col. Summit party left C4 at 10:10 pm on 29th and on top at 9:30 am of 30 May and back to C4; to C2 31st and BC 1st June. Burke used oxygen in C3 to top to C3; Pemba Gyalzen and Lama Babu from C3 to top to and in C4. Changba Nurbu in C4 to top to and in C4. 19th going down to BC to rest; 20 minutes into descent below C1, in the Icefall, a chunk of loose ice slipped out from under Ben's left foot, he fell on his side, twisted his leg so badly it broke in 2 places below the knee; was a flat area and Ben was not using fixed rope. 2 Sherpas coming by, stopped and made stretcher to help with his evacuation; perhaps 40 Sherpas in all helped drag/carry him down to to BC, where Himalayan Rescue Association clinic doctor gave pain killer and antibiotics. Burke flies back to Lukla 23 April to returns to climb; figures summit date about 25 May. Summit Sherpas: Pemba Gyalzen, 29/11/63, Pangkoma, Everest X4, Cho Oyu X2 Lama Babu, 23/9/68, Bung, Everest X1 Chhongba Nuru, 1962, Tate, Everest X3, Cho Oyu X1, Dhaula X1 Canadian Everest Expedition Spring 2005 led by Ben Webster - 26 June 2007 Nima Dorje Tamang also summited with this expedition. Lama Babu Sherpa, who summited with this team on 30 May 2005, confirmed on 26 June 2007 that Nima Dorje Tamang also summited with this team on the same day as he, as Nima Dorje Tamang is now claiming. Tamang was cook at C2, says Lama Babu, and perhaps this is why he was not mentioned as a summiter by Webster's wife, Shaunna Burke, on 7 June 2005. The ministry of Tourism's press release of 30 May 2005 lists Nima Dorje Tamang as a summiter that day in connection with the success of the American expedition led by Willie Benegas on a permit granted to Mountain Madness Trekking. The release lists all of the American team's successful members and Sherpas, plus Shaunna Burke and the three Sherpas she mentioned, plus Nima Dorje Tamang. Nima Dorje Tamang, called "Kala", was born on 8 January 1980 (24/9/2036) and comes from Chitre village, Bakachola-9, Khotang. He scaled Everest again on 17 May 2007 with the American team led by Paul Giorgio via South Col.
Accidents Burke rejoined expedition 27 April at BC; Webster fell in Icefall and broke his leg
