| Route Notes | ABC at Central Rongbuk Biv at bottom of North Face below Japanese couloir C2 at North Col C3 on North Face High point at C3. 18 May to ABC after recce of North Face. Started up North Face on 26 May to biv as 6100m and slept there and decided to traverse over to normal route at North Col (Odell in 1938 used this route). On 30th May up to 7700m on normal route on North Face and here Takeuchi got serious cerebral edema (had planned to make camp there). Climb now finished: descended to normal route ABC at 6400m on 31 May. Takeuchi now only vertigo but otherwise Ok apparently. |
