Route Notes Long tired before C2 established because of forecasts of strong wind. 1st summit party left C4 at 11:30 pm; they were all summiters; got to top at 6:20 am on 3rd to 6:40 am. On top just over an hour, little wind, no one on top that day; left 7:30 am and in C4 11:30 am, down to various camps: Harris to ABC Sunde-Rasmussen to C1, Vilane and Hamilton to C3, Sherpas to ABC. 2nd summit party left C4; Sir Ranulph at 9:15 pm of 3rd and returned to C4 at 10:25 pm, turned around at 8350m because that was enough. Rest of party left at 11:00 pm and got to top at (7:00 am of 4th and down to various camps: Campbell to C3, Bojens to C2, Parnell and Short C4, Nima Tenzi to C2, Nima Gambu to C3, Ang Dawa to ABC). With Fiennes was Nima Dorje Sherpa (aka Boka Lama) who turned back with him, according to Vilane. Fiennes was fine until evening of 3 June, when he started for summit and soon had chest pain; he sat down took a pill, felt better but because of his medical history decided to descend. Buckton-Tucker left 26th April - not acclimatized and never above ABC. Ziel's high point was C3 - had breathing problems.
