Route Notes C1 at North Col High point (for Koreans) at above 3rd Step. Long time after C1 established to occupy C1 because many days of bad wind and also because took much time to carry up much baggage for C2 and C3. Expedition's purpose was to bring down bodies of Koreans who died in May 2004. Found one body only, Park Mu-Taek at 8750m lying on his back, clipped into fixed rope; searched wide area of North face but could not find other 2 bodies. Brought Park's body down to 8600m and here moved stones in area to clear place for body and covered it with stones, built small cairn, brief ceremony in which Um cried for old friend and put his own gloves on Park's hands which he was without gloves. Um down to ABC same day with all Sherpas at 9:00 pm. 2 Sherpas in search party rushed up to top same day. Purpose of this expedition was not to climb Everest to summit but to bring down the bodies of the 3 Koreans who had died there on 18 May 2004. Oxygen: Sherpas: same in C3, all from C3 to high points to and in C3, same below C3. Um in C2 to high point to and in C2 most of the time. Sherpa summiters from 8300m to top to 8300m. Other Sherpas: some from 7900m to 8750m to 7900m; others from 8300m up to 8800m Summit Sherpas: Phur Gyalzen, Thami, 16/4/70, Everest X1, Cho Oyu X2 Then Dorje, Pangboche, Everest X1
