| Route Notes | Kubicek went to Everest from Cho Oyu and got to 7200m on 22 May then strong wind and down; got chest infection and left expedition with Valenya who also had chest infection. Valenya went to 6700m twice on 10 May with Svergun and Bershov helping them and again on 23 May when he got sick. Svergun and Bershov to make summit bid 30 May. Svergun - 3 June 2005 Svergun and Bershov left C3 for top at 4:00 am Chinese time and arrived at top 11:40 am (9:25 am NST) and return C3 3:00 pm, then to sleep in C2 at 5:00 pm. Used oxygen intermittently in C2, then to C3 to top to C2. ABC on 30th May. No health problems. Bershov went to Everest now for his third ascent because has been climbing with Svergun for 15 years and wanted to make this attempt by Svergun to be successful. |
