| Route Notes | Email from Billi Bierling - 16 June 2005 Gerfried Goeschl left C2 (7850m) at 5 am. He was on his own and climbed without his Sherpa, Nima Gyalgen from Gaurishankar. They had an argument at ABC and Goeschl dismissed him (his reasons were that Nima wanted a more money and said he did not want to climb to the summit with Goeschi as he wanted to go with Ganesh from India, who had apparently offered him more money). On his way up Goeschl did not meet anybody and he was on the summit (he has pictures to prove it). He put a potato on the summit. Hans Goger from Austria, who summited a day later, saw it. Goeschl stayed on the summit for 10 minutes and descended to C3, where he arrived at 10 pm. He met Gheorghe Dijmarescu, who gave him a tent to sleep in. Goeschl was very dehydrated when he got to C3 and he could not boil any water as he did not have a lighter so he did not drink anything all night. He also felt mentally quite exhausted. The next day he descended down to ABC, where he arrived at 10 pm. On his way he stopped at 8100m where he had two cups of tea with the Brazilian team. He met Dijmarescu again at 7900m. Dijmarescu was on his way down from the summit. He was with his wife Lakpa and his Sherpa. Goeschl was still very exhausted when he arrived at ABC on 2nd June and the doctor of the Indian army team gave his some cortisone and told him, he should take some oxygen but Goeschl refused as he did not want to lose his "without oxygen" title. Information on Gheorghe Dijmarescu According to Goeschl, Gheorghe Dijmarescu summit on 2nd June together with his wife Lakpa and one Sherpa early in the morning - around 6 am. They were using oxygen. Goeschl met him again on 2nd June at around 7900m at around 10 am. Dijmarescu's team were on their way down. Dijmarescu and Lakpa descended to ABC that day but accompanied Goeschl to the North Col. From there they went on a bit faster and left Goeschl behind. They met again at ABC. Dijmarescu stayed at ABC for another day and descended to BC on the 4th June. Goeschi told me that Hans Goger from Austria summited with Dijmarescu so if we need more information on Dijmarescu it might be worth calling Goger. Email from Billi - 27 June 2005 Information on Gheorghe Dijmarescu from Hans Goger, who summited same day: BC on 14 Apr at 5200m ABC on 19 Apr at 6370m C1 on 23 Apr at 7100m C2 on 18 May at 7600m C3 on 1 Jun at 8300m Summit 02 June by Dijmarescu, Lakpa Sherpa and Dawa Sherpa at 6:30 am Nepali Time. The team left C3 at 10 pm on 1st June and reached the summit at around 6:30 am. They descended to ABC the same day, where they stayed for another day and descended to BC on 4th June. Gheorghe climbed with Lakpa and they used oxygen from 7500m. They had one Sherpa (Dawa Sherpa - a relative of Lakpa, who is around 20 years old). Left BC on 5 June; members at end 2; Sherpa above BC: 1 (Dawa Sherpa) |
