Route Notes From various web reports: Nuria and Maite summited on May 19 at 7:45 am. They employed two Sherpas Pemba and Dorje, but it is unclear what their exact roles were near the top and if they also summited. The Indian Navy team seemed to imply that the two women summited with their two Sherpas, but then the Sherpas descended without them, leaving them to fend for themselves. Their oxygen ran out on descent and they were directed (assisted) down to Camp 2 by the Italian team using radio contact. The Italians gave them oxygen and hot drinks at C2 and helped them down to C1. Summit Sherpas: Pemba Tenzing, 1975, Phortse, Khumbu, Everest 30/5/03 Thendorje, Pangboche Email to Miss Hawley by Nuria We arrived in KTM last 31st March 2004. We stayed in Potala Guest Home and we travelled with agency Thamsherku. We left KTM to Tibet on 20th April. Before we did a trekking to the south face Everest for adaptation in altitude. We arrived at BC on 25th April. 5th May C1 (7000m) Maite Hernandez and Nuria Balague. 17th May C2 (7700m) Maite Hernandez, Nuria Balague, Silvia Ferrandis and the two Sherpas Pemba and Dorje. 18th May C3 (8300m) Maite Hernandez, Nuria Balague and the two Sherpas Pemba and Dorje. Pemba Tensin Sherpa from Porthe, Then Dorje Sherpa from Pangboche, Maite and Nuria reached the summit at 7:40 (Nepal time) on May 19th. Up from 8000m we all used oxygen as far as summit and back to C3. The two Sherpas we had reached the summit with us, and they used oxygen like us. We left BC on 25th May and arrived in KTM on 26th May and we stayed in Vaishali Hotel. Nobody suffered any accidents, serious illness or frostbite although we had some difficulties on our way down on the 20th May from C3 to C2 due to snow storm, strong wind and bad weather. The Italian expedition helped us to go down from C2 to ABC.
