Route Notes C1 at top of Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face C4 at S Col. Left C3 8:30 am in summit push; all 3 members and 3 Sherpas to go to C4; arrived at C4 2:30 pm, stayed till 8:30 pm., when left for top. Arrived top at 8:29 am on 16th (Jean, Dutil, Pasang Norbu and Nawang Wangchu) and 9:15 am (St. Hilarie and Thile Nuru). On top together, no wind, no clouds, sunshine; returned to C4 to sleep; down to BC 17th. Oxygen used by members from C3 to C4; St. Hilaire and Dutil only in C4; to top, to C4 by Jean and Dutil only and all from C4 to C3; by Sherpas from C4 to top C4. Sherpa summiters: Nawang Wangchu, 31/5/73, Chaplung, Chaurikharka, Everest X3, Dhaula I Pasang Norbu, 20/12/73, Walung, Makalu, Everest 23/5/01, Kangch X1 Thile Nuru, 26/5/74, Chaplung, Chaurikharka, Everest 22/5/03 Chongba Nurbu, 1964-5, Chaurikharka-7, Everest X2 Oxygen: Canadians from C3 to C4, in C4 (except Jean, who did not use it in C4), to top to C4 (except St. Hilaire, who did not use it), in C4 and all to C3; Sherpas from C4 to top to C4.
