| Route Notes | Summit party left C3 at 17th May 10:00 pm NST. Lee turned back at 8500m when decided could not reach top, but too tired to descend so went back to C2 at 8:00 am and down to North Col to sleep. Summit party on top at 10:00 am, started descent at 11:00 am. 12:00 pm Park Mu-Taek got snowblind because had tossed goggles off at top to take pictures and stopped going down; Lhakpa Gyalu had frostbitten 3 fingers and went alone to C3; Jang Min very tired and hypoxia so sat down at 8500m. Baek who was in C3 planning to go top next day, went up from C3 to rescue Jang and reached Park Mu-Taek and gave him oxygen. Took more than 12 hours to get to Park, Baek now very tired; tried to come down with Park, who got snowblind so both collapsed and died. Jang no strength and also collapsed and died. 23 Oct 2005: Nuru Chhiri claims to have summited with this expedition and trekking agent, Tarka of Windhorse Trekking, says he met both Sherpas after their return to KTM and they agreed that both had summited.
