Route Notes BC at CBC IC on Apr 8 at 5800m. May 20, Van Rooijen and Dawa left C4 at 10:45 NST, summited at 7:45 am, stayed about 10-15 mintues, back to C4 at 15:45 hours. Spent night in C4 without sleeping bag. Next day Van Rooijen to North Col, Dawa to ABC. Good weather on summit day but lots of hanging clouds - could not see other mountains. When Van Rooijen and Dawa reached the summit the American (Connecticut) expedition members were about to descend. George Dijmarescu was among them on summit, Norwegian woman with oxygen too was there on summit. On summit the American expedition was performing prayers for one of the lamas with prayer flags. Other group was of Russell Brice on summit. It was very cold on the summit. Snelder went up to 8400m on 20th; he got his fingers very cold (the fingers were frostbitten from last expedition); went back to C4 and at sunrise descending to C3. Van Rooijen became the 14th person in the world to have 3 Poles. Sherpa: Dawa Gel Sherpa (18-06-1973) from Makalu (first Sherpa from Makalu area to reach summit of Everest without oxygen) Prem Lakpa Sherpa went upto C1
Accidents Doorakkers twisted ankle while descending from C2 to C1 on May 7 (rested for one week, but could not attempt for summit)
