| Route Notes | BC at Khumbu Glacier C1 at usual campsite C2 at usual campsite C3 at usual site C4 at South Col. Justman and Sherpas left C4 at 9:30 pm of 15th, summited at 6:30 am on 16th, stayed 20 minutes, descended to South Col about 12 noon all together. Weather was great. Next day to BC. Justman plans to come next spring for Lhotse. About other members: Gardner (BC only) bored - left BC on April 24. Hughes suffered from pulmonary edema on April 22 night at C2, sent down to BC on 23rd, evacuated to KTM by helicopter the next day. The expedition returned to KTM on 23 and leaving on 24th. 5 Sherpas were shared by Van Hoy and Justman teams. They are: Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa Tendi Sherpa (37) Dawa Sherpa (41) Ngawang Dorje Lama (38) Kale Sherpa - only up to C3 (no other mountain summit) Summit Sherpas: Ngawang Dorje Lama, 28/1/63, Tiplang, Dhading Dist, 1st 8000er Lhakpa Nuru, 25/9/72, Yilagung, near Thami, Everest X3 Lhawang Dhondup summited on 22 May 2003 with Benjamin Clark (same as Ngawang Dorje). Another website says Ben Clark summited with Lhawang Dhondup. |
