| Route Notes | BC at 5300m C1 at 6100m at top of Icefall C2 at 6600m at W Cwm C3 at 7300m at Lhotse Face High point at 7900m at South Col on 11 and 13 May to dump gear (+ 21 May to retrieve). Leader Ungdi Tshering reached C2 on May 2 and remained there till he left for C3 on 19th with Mingma (Mingma Dorje) Sherpa. Mingma (Dorje) and Ungdi spent night of 19th at C3. On 20th Ungdi and Mingma went up to 7600m in the morning. When Ungdi met other expedition members coming down from C4, due to storm in up camp, Ungdi and Mingma (Dorje) also descended to C2. On 21st both of them came down to BC and called off the expedition. Ungdi gave up the expedition because two of his Sherpas Mingma (who got frostbite) and other one Thukpa Chiring (got frostbite on left hand) and two remaining Sherpas too were tired. Ungdi thought that it would be difficult to try again. Note (1): Highest point for leader Ungdi is 7600m. For Mingma Dorje, Dawa Ongchu, Mingma Thindu the highest point is South Col where all three Sherpas went to deposit their supplies on May 11 and 13. Dawa Ongchu went again to South Col on 21st to collect the supplies with Mingma Thindu. For Thukpa high point was yellow band on May 13. Frostbite (note 2) Mingma Sherpa, toe of right foot, which quickly healed completely. Thukpa Chiring left hand's four fingers all black but in early August were healing. HAS Kasa Dawa Sherpa suffered from HAS while at C2 and sent down to BC. |
