Route Notes BC at usual camp site C1 at usual camp site C2 at usual camp site C3 at usual camp site C4 at South Col. May 20: At 9:30 pm Kim Dong-Hyeon, Lim Chang-Hwan, Ryu Ung-Hee and Kancha Nuru Sherpa left C4 for summit. Ang Babu (Jimba) had to wait at C4 for the Sherpa who was to bring flag from C2 which the members forgot at C2. Ang Babu left C4 at 10 pm without the flag as the flag carrying Sherpa did not come till 10 pm. When Ang Babu reached at about 8100m, he saw the other expedition members coming down due to storm. Ang Babu waited for three climbing members and Kancha Nuru at the same place. He estimates the highest point of other climbing members not beyond 8200m. Together three members and two Sherpas reached C4 at midnight of 21st. Ang Babu wanted to continue for summit with Kim Dong-Hyeon next day but leader Lim Jong-Ha asked them to give up climbing and to descend. Between 8:30 am and 10 am members and two Sherpas left C4 to C2 and same day to BC. where they arrived in the evening. By that time leader Lim had already left BC. Kancha Nuru got sick and admitted to tent hospital of HRA and also checked by army doctor. According to doctors the case of Kancha Nuru was a bad ulcer. On 24th Kancha Nuru was evacuated from BC to KTM by helicopter. After that four members and Sherpas left the BC same day. The group arrived KTM on May 28 and left Nepal on 29th. Kim Jong-Gyu (climbing) leader, who reached up to C3 on April 23, had to leave BC on or about May 17 and left Nepal on about 22nd, due to his work back home. Expedition leader Lim Jong-Ha, left BC on May 21 apparently very upset for not having summited on 21st, the target and (probably) sole objective of expedition to meet the another Korean expedition on the top. Ang Babu said that Lim fully blamed Sherpas for this failure. Lim left Nepal on 31st according to Mr. Thakur, receptionist (desk manager) of Villa Everest. Lim's arrival to KTM was about 25th.
