Route Notes May 20: left C3 at 05:00 hours. Sherpas put up fixed line between Mushroom rock and top of Second Step. Da Nuru and Phu Nuru summited at 11:30 am, stayed about 10-15 minutes, back to ABC at 18:00 hours NST. Wheeler, White, Panuru and Karma had to return from 8500m due to weather conditions. Wheeler and White stayed at C2; two Sherpas to ABC. Booher stayed at C3. On 21st Booher left C3 at 01:00 am, summited at 11:30 am, stayed for 15 minutes, descended to C2 and next day to ABC. Bramhill went up to 6600m exhausted, then descended to ABC. Harlingten up to ABC; he suffered from lack of oxygen which occurs in sea level as well. John up to 6850m, Gulding Nacho who also reached up to 6850m and had no strength to climb. White up to 8500m, while descending he slipped while on main rope that flogged the rope that caused the fall of Harrod Conan (member of Adventure Peak Expedition, David Pritt, Leader) which broke his leg. Panuru Sherpa and others helped bring Harrod Conan up to the ridge. - Harlingten left expedition on April 10 - Bramhill left expedition on April 22 - Nacho left expedition on April 29 Sherpas summiters: Dawa Nuru Sherpa (26 Oct 1978), Phortse Phu Nuru Sherpa (16 May 1980) - first time summit on Everest Other Sherpas: Panuru Sherpa (22 May 1968) - had 3 or 4 times summit on Everest Mingma Ongel Sherpa (17 March '78) Karma Rita Sherpa All Sherpas are from same village Phortse. Expedition returned to KTM on May 25 and leaves on 27th.
