| Route Notes | C1 at 6100m (deposit only - which was blown away by storm) May 25: Benedetti and Valentini both started from C2 on May 25 at 06:00 hours. Benedetti arrived at C4 at 13:00 hours. Valentini arrived at 16:00 hours. Both got rest and food, then continued at 21:00 hours. Benedetti reached at 8815m at 04:45 hours. On May 26 he had to return to C4 at 11:00 hours due to the problem in oxygen mask which did not release oxygen. Valentini reached to 8100m at 11:00 hours without oxygen. He felt very cold and tired, decided to give up. Nima Sherpa who was climbing with Valentini continued with the permission of Valentini. Nima told him that he had summited. Valentini while waiting for Nima, as he was suffering from bit of snowblind, asked one of the army members descending from summit to put his ice axe into his rucksack instead the climber took the axe with him. Sherpas: Nima Sherpa, Thami Ang Kazi Sherpa The expedition returned to KTM on May 31 and will leave on June 03. Nima did not go to the summit, according to trekking agent, Nima Nuru of Cho Oyu Trekking - this was a misunderstanding |
