| Route Notes | C1 at 7040m at North Col C2 at 7700m North Face C3 at 8300m North Face xxx at 8600m at North Ridge bottom of 2nd Step. Stopped at 8600m because clouds coming from west and strong wind and very cold in summit bid and down to 7700m to sleep and climb finished: "no more oxygen, no more food, no more power." Had deposited food, oxygen, gear in C1 but all blown away in fierce winds on 4 May. Oxygen used by Yamamoto and Yamashita from 7000m climbing and sleeping to 8600m and down to 7700m camp; Nawang Tenzing and Phurba Thundup from 7700m to 8600m to 7700m. Watanabe went up to 7300m on 18 May and no higher Noda left expedition 10 May |
