| Route Notes | C1 at North Col High point at just above North Col. 21st tried to break trail up from C1, but snow up to chest while Sherpa went down to get food, then series of new snowfalls and Davies tripped in C1 alone while Dawa Sherpa in ABC. Dawa sent kitchen boy with message to LO in BC on 25th saying Davies missing and send up yaks to evacuate him and baggage from ABC. Davies on 21st started down in deep snow and set off slab avalanches in descent; took about 10 hours to descend in waist and chest deep snow. Dawa and 1 kitchen boy asleep in ABC. Staff did not know he was there and he slept till 5:00 pm, coughed and staff realized he was present. Couldn't have gone back up with snow so deep and slab avalanche danger too great. |
