Route Notes C1 at North Col (own tent) C2 (Bieldfeld team's tent) C3 (own tent). Gheorghe went to C2 2-3 times from ABC but never slept there until 14 May in his summit push. On 16th he occupied his tent at C3 and shared it with Yugoslavian members of Russian, Bulgarian, etc expedition of Zoran Miletic. They left C3 at about 1:00 am (NST?) 17 May, Gheorghe using oxygen as he had during his night in tent. Used oxygen down to C3, where he slept that night. Spent night of 18th in other expedition's tent at C2 after having helped rescue other expedition's climbers. Next day to ABC. Email to Borislav Dimitrov from Claudia Baeumler - June 4, 2002 My name is Claudia and I accompanied Hartmut during our climb and also the descent from Mt. Everest. Because I had no problems during the descent I can remember very well, where, when and from whom we got the two additionally oxygen bottles which we needed for Hartmut's descent. The first bottle we got from Ang Mingma Sherpa (the Sherpa from Simono Moro) at 8000m (George had in this case asked Ang Mingma for the oxygen by himself). The next oxygen bottle we got on the North Col from the tent of one solo Mexican. During the descent from 7900m (where George and our Sherpa Mingma shared the stormy night with us) down to North Col George was hours in front of us because we were quite slow in the descent. So only our Sherpa Mingma could give word, that we haven't taken any oxygen from your depot. By the way, the bottle, which Mingma brought up when he came to help us, was one emergency bottle (also marked with our name) which we had deposit in our camp II at 7700m. Maybe George mixed here up something. I'm afraid that one of your oxygen bottles is missing, but we haven't taken it!
