| Route Notes | C1 at North Col C2 in tent belonging to Swiss expedition C3 at French Group's tent (small tent). C2 May 15: Caban got shelter in a tent belonging to Swiss expedition. He was carrying small supplies for cooking - no tent, no sleeping bag. The local porter refused to go up beyond C1. His friend Palacky stayed at C1 due to exhaustion, May 16 he spent night in a small Sherpa tent without sleeping bag. From C3 on 17 started alone at 02:00 hours. Summit at 11:30 hours, stayed about one hour. Returned to C3 at 17:00 hours. The weather was good but little windy. Frostbite occurred while loading film in his camera on the top. Japanese Expedition members saw him loading the film. He had left a small Teddy Bear of his daughter on the summit. Both the members returned to Kathmandu on May 22 and will leave on June 2. |
