Route Notes BC at 5200m at left side of Kangshung Glacier ABC at 5400m at 2-1/2 hours from BC Depot at 5450m bottom of East Face C1 at 5550m at big crevasse on face Biv at 6100m on face Biv at 6300m on face High point at 6350m at East Face. No fixed camps above ABC but had use of a depot camp, which did sleep in and bivouacs except a crevasse camp at 5550m. Had many days of snowfall and avalanching, so would retreat when snow came and wait 2 days for avalanches to stop, go up and same pattern repeated. Crevasse camp at 5500m buried when Ferenci and Varkonyi were in it but not hurt. Later Ferenci taken down by avalanche going down to depot camp (taken 250m down slope but not hurt). Both depot and crevasse camps flattened by avalanches other times. Would like to go back again to route in spring time. Goes in spring 2001 to Everest South to become first Hungarian atop Everest.
Accidents Klein knocked unconscious by falling stone but recovered
