Route Notes C1 at North Col C3 at Simonson's tent used resting 21st. Summit party got Eric Simonson's permission to use tent at his C3 at 8100m, so made C3 no of own. 20th impossible to go up because bad winds so up to his C3 on 21st at midday and rested and ate there. Hunter and McDermott left C3 at 1:30 am NST 22nd May and got atop, McDermott at 10:00 am and without oxygen, Hunter with oxygen to top later about 11:00 am. Both down to C2 that night. Climb finished. Oxygen: Dunlop used it during illness. Hunter used it up from C2 to Simonson's C3 tent and up from C3. tents to top and down to C3 tent - not in C3 tents. McDermott did not use any oxygen. 5 members left expedition to return to their jobs: Bash, Peel, Simpson, Staines and Stopford.
Accidents T. Stubbs tore ligament in knee, on way to ABC, 15 Apr and stayed in BC or rest of expedition. Dunlop bad chest infection descending from ABC, his highest point.
