May 23: left C4 at 00:30 hours, summit at 10:20 hours (Mondinelli, Pasaban and Dawa), 20 minutes later Vallejo, Merelli at about 13:00 hours. First group stayed about 10 minutes, to C4 at about 16:30 hours. Weather at summit sunshine, wind and cold. While at South Summit the weather was very good - above cloudy. Oxygen used: leader Merelli and Sherpa C4 -> summit (4 bottles). 1 bottle was used for Nima Sherpa who got sick and evacuated from BC. Mondinelli and Vallejo summited without oxygen. The summiters saw on the summit Nepali and American flags. Chileans were before them. They met two Russians (by Merelli), at Hillary Step met Willie Benegas and Chileans coming down; also met while returning 2 from Basque expedition. Team attempted first on May 16 (Merelli, Mondinelli and Pasaban), but due to bad weather returned to BC. The leader climbed up to 8600m on north side. Due to bad weather gave up the climb on previous expedition. On 16th Mondinelli tried on Lhotse (he also was on permit for Lhotse). He had to help to bring down a Korean climber from 7800m (member of two Korean and one Sherpa team). Due to lack of time then gave up the climb on Lhotse.
