| Route Notes | BC at normal area C1 at North Col. On May 19 Ken Noguchi climbed to 7900m to clean garbage, almost all the 22 Sherpas went to 8300m to clean garbage only. They collected 120 oxygen bottles and 1-1/2 tons of garbage. Some garbage went to TMA, 800 kilos of mostly Japanese and Korean garbage will go back to Japan in big boxes and the 120 oxygen bottles will go back to Japan by ship. There was a body at 8300m (an Austrian from 1996, Reinhard Wlasich); they rolled him down the North Face, the Sherpas did move him themselves. Most of the garbage was Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. * Noriyuki Muraguchi went to 7900m with Noguchi * The pictures are from 1997 and now all the garbage from these photos Ken Noguchi might come back next year to clean south side; to see what is left over from Bob Hoffman and finish what he could not clean. |
