| Route Notes | C1 at North Col. Tuyoshi Yamamoto returned from BC on 23rd April and flew back home on 29th April. He had no plans to climb, he came to see and experience the base camp. Three climbers along with the Sherpas started climbing from C3 at 4:30 am on 17th May and summited at 10:30 am of the same day. Spent one hour on the top. Weather was clear, but was cloudy on the Nepal side. They saw Makalu, Lhotse and other peaks. Took photo with video camera, plugged flags. Since they were using oxygen they did not have any problem the top as they had thought. Returned to C3 at 3:30 pm the same day. Returned to ABC and BC on 18th and 22nd of May respectively. Rope used from ABC to C3, fixed by New Zealand group. Ruchia also became 2nd Japanese lady summiter to climb Everest from north side. |
