| Route Notes | Proceeded together C1 April 11 - BC 14 - C1 16 - C2 19 - members Hebson and Okubo left BC. Hebson left BC for KTM on April 25 [chest infection], Okubo left BC on May 5 [exhaustion]. 20 - C3 spent night by leader alone (then to BC) May 13 - reached C2 14 - from C4 started at 23:00 hours together with Sherpas. 15 - reached South Summit at 09:30 hours. After an hour decided to call off the climb. Before leaving BC. Agreed with the English expedition to carry each climber 100m ropes and to use after South Summit. Hiddleston team's ropes were used between balcony to South Summit. When other team arrived at South Summit, they were told that the ropes had been left at balcony. Speed climbing: Ang Dorji Sherpa from Pangboche. He started from BC on 14 May at 16:00 hours and reached South Col at 24:00 hours. Then had to use oxygen and called off the climb. Hiddleston said: "It had been a great disappointment to abandon the climb despite nice weather conditions." He extends his best regards. Leaving Nepal on 24th. |
