Route Notes BC at Lhonak village ABC (depot) at below moraine of South Glacier C1 at South Glacier High point at bottom of South Rib of Central Summit. Very difficult peak: looked all around it; western end of the long serious summits looked reasonable but high up threatening ice camp, others too steep and with ice also over hanging and eastern end too far from highest which is at west end. Tackled South Rib of Central Summit; got to 20,000 ft and all gear in place for more climbing alpine style; went down and Griffin got stomach trouble, Novak hadn't been above 18,000 ft before so Scott didn't feel confident with him, and Freeman-Attwood left without having done any real climbing. 30th to high point and slept in C1; 1st still in C1 waiting for Griffin to feel better but he didn't, so all 3 members down to BC on 2nd April. Then snowfall and 5th May left to return to KTM. "Weak team" - had 3 Sherpas who did no climbing on Drohmo except to clean camps. Griffin and 3 Sherpas stayed on to try Jongsang, but Griffin unlikely to do much since spent many days sleeping; with him strong or others strong climbers could have succeeded on this technical but safe route on south rib.
