Route Notes BC at middle of Langshisa Glacier C1 at foot of West Ridge C2 on West Ridge High point at West Ridge. Swiss Dorje Lhakpa Expedition, led by Daniel Silbernagel - 21 Nov 2008 The first summit push was made by Banz, Baumann and Mueller on 5 November from C2. But they were not well enough acclimatized and reached only 6200m. Mueller's feet became very cold 20 minutes after he left C2, and he returned to the camp. He resumed his ascent after the sun had warmed the air, and he caught up with the other two, but none of them got higher than 6200m and they all descended to BC. The second summit push began at BC on 7 November, when Baumann, Santschi and Silbernagel went up to C1 and the next day to C2. On the 9th, Santschi stayed in C2 while Baumann and Silbernagel pushed on higher. Silbernagel stopped at 6500m and waited there while Baumann went on to 6600m, where she arrived at 1:00 pm. They now decided to return to C2 because they were too late to go to the summit and return to C2 during daylight. They further decided that the climb was over; they had realized only now the need for a third high camp, and they had no time to establish a C3 and then make a successful summit bid. On the 10th they were in BC. On their trek out, the team paused to scale the south summit of the 5742m-high trekking peak, Yala, on the 13th via its west side.
