Route Notes BC at Chuli ABC before Chuli Glacier ice fall, looking at North Face of Singkar Biv 1 on North Face Biv 2 on North Face. Parkin, in his solo alpine style, set up his ABC on 30 or 31 January at 5300m. There was a big snowstorm on 1 and 2 January. The storm left lots of snow all over. The condition was not good, then he went down to BC and waited for snow to settle down. Approach to the base of the mountain: walk up 5400m along the slope on left side of the Chuli glacier icefall then cross the icefall. Parkin had two bivouacs one at about 5700m and the another one about 6050m. His summit push started at around 9 am on 17 January from the second Biv. He got to the top around 2:30 pm. He stayed on summit for about 10 minutes and descended to first Biv where he spent the night. Next day he went down to ABC and the following day to BC. Climbing route: 85-degree icefall, about 800m vertical and between 1200-1400m rock face. Snow condition of the route mostly was neve. It was very cold and windy. Parkin said that it was a wild condition everywhere. There were lots of avalanches. At the beginning Parkin was confused about the peak and could not identify Dinjung Ri. The two maps which he had with him show different things. Then he asked local villagers and one of them showed him a peak as Dingjung Ri. Parkin verified the peak in his maps, the altitude given in one of the maps was pretty close to the altitude of Dinjung Ri. So, Parkin decided to climb it. The altitude of the peak which Parkin climbed is 6263m according to his altimeter. In the Ministry's list altitude of Dingjung Ri is 6249m.
