Route Notes C1 at southeast corner of Tsaurabong Glacier C2 on the glacier C3 on the glacier High point at junction of South Face and East Ridge. 22nd Sept down to BC from C2 established by Pawlowski and Stepien. 23 Sept same two plus Wojas & Garwolinski up to C1. 24 Sept Garwolinski down to BC because weather bad while others stayed in C1 hoping to go up nad then difficult to descend in snow and rain. 26 Sept rock avalanche at BC one night and had to move to Italian BC at 3660m for 3 days, then when rain stopped on 30th moved back to original BC. 1 Oct Garwolinski, Jurewicz and Pawlowski up from BC to C1 while Sklodowska and Stepien up from C2 to see how route was up to C2; went 200m fixed rope on serac and above it on rock and back to C1. 3 days now to carry loads to C2 and all members slept in C2 4 Oct. 5 Oct carried loads to C3 which was 3 km from C2. All slept in C3 on 6 Oct. Weather deteriorating again. Stepien, Wojas and Sklodowska on 7th climbed 300m above C3 but snowfall began and down to C3. 8th in C3; Garwolinski, Jurewicz and Pawlowski up 100m and snowfall and clouds sent them back to C3. 9th same trio and Wojas down to C1. Decided expedition finished and took much of gear; other two up and 10th to 6700m; now snowing and in clouds, so back to C3 while rest of them to BC. All in BC on 11 Oct. 12th cleared camps. Just above BC small river needed a ladder to cross it. Farman Tamang, 26, from Nuwakot, was killed by rock in landslide on 20 Sept while returning to Kathmandu after carrying loads to BC.
