Route Notes BC at normal site C1 at NE Col C2 at last crevasse on NE Ridge C3 on NE Ridge High point at C3. 18 Oct 3 people who had gone to C3 to try for top, went down to BC. Now strong wind blowing light snowfall. So last summit bid started up with 3 from US team, Moravek of Czech team, 3 French and their two "Sherpas"; left BC 21st, 22nd left C1 and 23rd left C2 to go to C3 all together. Very little snow had collected. Left C2 at 7:00 am to 7:20 am in single file with summiters between them; summiter and Dawa in the lead, Damilano, Caillat, Harrison, Shaw, Pfisterer and Baderoux; Moravek still in camp getting ready. Small slab avalanche hit at 200m above C2 at maybe 8:00 am - hit Harrison, Dawa, Damilano and his client Caillat. Caillat and Damilano covered and carried down 150 linear meters and Ok but don't know where Harrison and Dawa went. Avalanche split in half and some down other side of ridge and perhaps they were carried into crevasse there - search found no traces. French after searching all day and then to BC same evening and climb finished because of fatal avalanche. * US Dhaulagiri's Pfisterer and Shaw absolutely positive avalanche occured on 24th, not 23rd.
