| Route Notes | BC at normal site C1 at Col C2 on NE Ridge C3 on NE Ridge. 3 Bulgarians came to Dhaulagiri, but only Petkov & Tonchev came to Dhaulagiri BC. After BC reached went to climb several mountains from camp at Dhampus Pass; 3 members (3rd men's name not known) did this climbing, which for Petkov and Tonchev was acclimatization. 3rd man stayed at Dhampus Pass while others were on Dhaulagiri. Moved very fast up Dhaulagiri after return to BC; had series of temporary camps. 24th Sept both climbers tried for top: Tonchev reached 8000m and Petkov only 7700m and both back to 7500m camp that night. 25th Tonchev stayed in camp while Petkov went alone to summit and back to camp. Both returned to BC, the day Spaniards left BC to try Annapurna I. (Bulgarians were on Spaniards Annapurna I permit but not on any permit for Dhaulagiri). Austrians on DAV German-Austria-Dhaulagiri expedition said Bulgarians very fast climbers. Ukrainians said Bulgarians scaled Sita Chuchura and "many" mountains in Nepal. In Pamirs so well acclimatized when they went to Dhaulagiri and could climb it very fast. |
