Route Notes BC at normal site C1 at NE Col C2 on NE Ridge C3 on NE Ridge High point at C3. 7 Belgians climbed on Dhaulagiri. Le Bon and Mousny established C1 and C2 and Dewint and Moreau enlarged C2 and made next camp. In high camps used standing tents of Argentine and Chilean teams. 19th early morning down from C3. Dewint and Moreau had intended to go for top but Moreau got altitude sickness and slept all day, so these 2 the only in C3 on 17th; down to C1 (Moreau, who was brought down by 2 Sherpas on 20th) and to BC (Dewint). Others who were already down had decided not to go up again. Van Doorsselaere arrived from Makalu on 22nd but felt much too great danger in crevasses on glacier in warm weather and breaking snow bridges. Dewint discouraged by avalanching. Left BC 22 May in fog and snowfall; Le Bon and Moreau had left BC 21 May. Dewint and a Sherpa discussed going up but Sherpa's motivation was to earn money from gear he could bring down and then avalanching and glacier's condition convinced Dewint not to go up.
