Route Notes Approach: From Annapurna by helicopter BC 18/04 4700m C1 24/04 5700m (touched only, never slept there) C2 09/04 6150m C1 12/05 6400m (high camp) C3 13/05 7230m (lower camp) Smt 14/05 Oswald, Ziemski at 7:30 am. On 26/04, they ascended directly to C2 where they deposited some gear and descended to BC the same day. They stayed at BC until 09/05 because it snowed every day until 05/05. They waited for another 4 days at BC for the avalanches to release. On 09/04 they ascended to C2. They had to dig out their tent, but were able retrieve everything. On 10/05, they descended to BC due to the bad weather. It was snowing heavily. On 11/05, they ascended to C2, left BC at 11:30 am; on 12/05 the weather was bad, they took their small tent and ascended to high C2, where they stayed the night. The ropes were fixed until 6800m. The team passed the rope-fixing Sherpas on their way to C3. On summit day, team left C3 at 00:05 am. There were no fixed ropes and they moved without a rope. Snow was wind-pressed and in some places they broke in. They climbed up the East Colouirs and when they reached the ridge, they climbed past the dead body of Alfred Herrman, who died in 1995. They spent about half an hour on the summit. Ziemski skied down the West Couloir. Full ski descent (I think it is the FIRST FILL SKI DESCENT) Ziemski skied all the way to BC, but took off his skis briefly at C3 to wait for Pereira and at C2 to pack up their tent. Otherwise, he skied all the way. He arrived at BC at 1:30 pm. Pereira arrived at 6:40 pm. Oxygen: Not taken, not used Fixed rope: Used the fixed ropes up to C2 Left BC on 15/05 by helicopter. Ziemski's FB entry of 15/05: We got this one! On Sunday, May 14, after 07:30 local time, we entered Bartek Ziemski & Oswald Rodrigo Pereira's team at Dhaulagiri (8167m). Summit attack started from Camp 3 (7230m) at 00:05. After climbing the summit, Bartek skied to Base (4700m). I took care of the film and photographic documentation, then I went down to the Base for the night. Our summit action lasted 4 days. On May 11, we left the Base directly to the low Camp 2 (6150m). The next day our plans were interrupted by the weather, so we moved just under 6400m. On May 13, we started Camp 3 and after a few hours of rest we headed for the summit. We checked in after a solo climb first of the season. The entire expedition took place without the assistance of oxygen from a bottle and without the personal support of the Sherpas.
