| Route Notes | Did acclimatize as follows: stayed 2 nights at Italian BC, 1 night at Japanese BC, 2 nights at BC before sleeping at C1. On 15 May they started at night to reach C2 directly the next day where they slept. Next day had a rest at C3. Started at 11 pm that night, reached summit next day at 11:30 am, came back to C2 for sleeping that night (at 4 pm). Next day reached BC at noon. Krishna Thapa [Magar] skied down from C2 to BC in not so good snow conditions. He didn't aim for a complete ski descent from the top, but thinks now its possible. Next season both will come back to climb Makalu with a larger team of the British Army. Fixed rope: 300m to 400m Sherpas: Pemba Sherpa, Makalu Mingma Dorchi [13015/50] |
