| Route Notes | Team abandoned expedition due to bad weather (high winds, constant snowfall, and avalanching). Diary (roughly translated by Google from www.boat.sk/dhaulagiri/): 20.9.2012 (Thursday) The expedition is happily in Jomsom. Flew by twin-engine plane to local airport. The weather is nice. Jomsom started a four-day walking march. The members of the expedition reached the lying at a height of 2670 meters, however part of the Marpha luggage remained at the airport in Pokhara. 23.9.2012 (Sunday) The expedition spent the first two nights in the open air. The first at 3720m and the second at a height of 4780m. The third bed is in Hidden Valley at an altitude of 4970m, so should have come first to Dhampus Pass (5261m). The French Pass is full of snow, so probably won't be able to fetch the donkeys, but barrels will have to be carried by the members of the expedition. The night temperature was -3°C in the tent. 25.9.2012 (Tuesday) The members of the expedition are after overcoming French Saddle (5360m) in the base camp at an altitude of 4750m. Yet all baggage, which is in the met and climbing gear, so that it cannot move forward without a campaign. When baggage arrives, the team is waiting to be transferred to high-altitude camp 1. Compared to the original plan, the expedition has about a three-day delay. Our base camp is not by itself. There are also other teams, which are gearing up to attack the summit, such as the Spaniards. 30.9.2012 (Sunday) The expedition built a camp 1 at 5800m. All spent two nights there. Now they are back in the base camp on 4750m and to relax. Then you need to build a high-altitude camp. All the teams, which are under the Dhaulagiri, cooperate with each other. 1.10.2012 (Monday) The members of the expedition spent today at base camp. Among other things, to do personal hygiene, as in such conditions is not easy. Tomorrow will be still and rest the day after tomorrow should be selected through the high-altitude camp C1 to C2. 5.10.2012 (Friday) All are fine and are found in C2. 8.10.2012 (Monday) The expedition is back at base camp after returning from C2. 12.10.2012 (Friday) According to the latest reports on the deterioration of the weather all wrapped up and back down. Located in the Marpha. 14.10.2012 (Sunday) The members of the expedition are now transferred by bus from Marpha to Pokhara. |
