Route Notes On 2 Oct Parker & Voldmo, who had been to C2 before, went to C2. Conditions and weather good. When they got there, they spoke to their Sherpas who told them conditions were too dangerous and there was not enough fixed rope, even though conditions appeared to be good. They decided to abandon expedition. Parker descended to BC and Voldmo to C1 on 4 Oct. On 4 Oct Eigenmann and Raunbaek ascended from C1 to C2 in perfect conditions. They met Voldmo, who was on way down and he told them they could not go beyond C2 due to rope shortage. They took 6 hours from C1 to C2 and stayed one night. On 5 Oct they descended to C1, where Voldmo was waiting and then continued to BC. Bredesen reached C1 on 3 Oct; he stayed one night, but descended to BC on 4 Oct as he felt altitude sickness. Team says that overall conditions on mountain were perfect despite heavy snowfall from 20 Sept-27 Sept. They had lost some of their fixed rope under snow. They agree that if they had more rope they would have had a good chance to summit.
