Route Notes BC at normal site C1 at NE Col C2 at NE Ridge. Dhaulagiri 2008, led by Alexy Raspopov - 19 May 2008 The team made C1 on 24th April and went down to BC on the 26th. On the 29th they went up again from BC to C1 and on 30th made C2 at 6700m. The next day, 1 May, they made a deposit of supplies at the site for C3 at 7400m and returned to C2, and on 2 May descended to BC after this normal acclimatization climb. On 7 May, all three members plus Pemba Sherpa left BC and reached C1. They stayed an extra day in C1 because Popovich had gotten a head cold in BC, and they hoped it would get better. But on the 9th his cold became worse as he climbed, and there was more snowfall, which meant avalanche danger. So on the 9th they brought C2 and its contents to C1. The climb was now finished. This was a commercial expedition with Popovich as the client of Kushnir and Raspopov; they were not there for the two guides to climb the mountain. Besides, the snow conditions were too dangerous. On the 10th they brought everything down to BC and left BC on the 14th. The only health problems were Popovich's head cold, and the emergence of one of Pemba's wisdom teeth on the 24th of April. Pemba Wangchu's tooth gave him swollen gums, a bad headache and difficulty in swallowing. Back in BC Pemba, who was 24 years old, took antibiotics and recovered in a few days. The team had oxygen with them, but intended to use it only above C3. It was not used. Sherpa: Pemba Wangchu Sherpa, 30/12/83, Kharikhola, no 8000ers
