| Route Notes | BC at Chhorbarang Glacier at normal site C1 at NE Col C2 on NE Ridge C3 on NE Ridge. 30 March to BC and stayed 8 days while snow falling: 9 April back to C1, 10 Apr to C2 and 11 Apr to C3, then 12 Apr to BC. Up again 19 Apr to C2, 21 Apr to C3, 22 Apr with no gear except sleeping bag to 7250m in shelter under rock (very windy till middle of night). 23 Apr with just down clothes went into couloir (lot of snow in couloir) and then left to summit. On top at 8:00 pm of 24 Apr, back to BC at 3:00 am of 25 Apr. 25 Apr to Hidden Valley east of French Pass; 26 Apr to Jomsom and 27 Apr flew Jomsom to KTM. Made no attempt to climb from north as originally planned, as not feasible for one climber. 6 May 2008 - David Goettler (Kaltenbrunner's expedition) said he saw tracks up from the traverse and through couloir which he believes must have been made by Minarik; they could not have lasted from last autumn. |
